Phylum Annelida Segmented worms e.g. ragworms, tubeworms & fanworms
Class Polychaeta 'many bristled'; bristleworms, e.g. ragworms, scaleworms, paddleworms, fanworms and tubeworms
Britain and Ireland Distribution Southern shores of the North Sea as far north as the Humber, along the English Channel and round into Pembrokeshire.
Habitat information Lagoons and sheltered estuarine sites, where it inhabits a mud tube in muddy sediments.
Description A small worm, up to 5 mm long, with eight tentacles that are thread-like and slimy. It has six gills that are banded by rings of greenish-grey pigment.
